Sid Caesar - Click to View Larger... Sid Caesar - Click to View Larger...Sad news for the entertainment community today, as television comedy pioneer Sid Caesar has passed away. He was 91.

Caesar was the youngest of three sons born to Jewish immigrants living in Yonkers, New York. Sid's father, Max had emigrated from Poland, while his mother Ida was originally from the Russian Empire. The "Caesar" moniker had been given to Max by an immigration official on Ellis Island.

Caesar's parents ran a 24-hour lunchonette where Sid waited tables, and that was where Sid learned to mimic the rhythm and accents of the diverse clientele. Caesar referred to it as "double-talk," a "skill" he would use throughout his long and successful comedy career.

Sid's older brother David was his comedic cohort and cheering section, often creating comedic skits they performed for the family.

At the age of fourteen, Sid became a saxaphonist, working at resorts in the Catskill Mountains. There, he occassionally performed in comedic sketches.

Click to View Larger... Click to View Larger...Big Bad Behind the Scenes: Super Fly - A 1972 Blaxploitation film starring Ron O'Neal, and directed by Gordon Parks Jr.

O'Neal stars as Youngblood Priest, a black cocaine dealer who is trying to quit the drug pushing business.

The film is one of the few films ever to be outgrossed by its own soundtrack. The soundtrack was written and produced by Curtis Mayfield.

The film's soundtrack was so well received, Mayfield was sought out for work on other film soundtracks. The songs "Freddy's Dead" and "Super Fly" both made the Pop Top Ten charts in 1972.

Ron O'Neal directed a sequel to the film that was released less than a year later, Super Fly T.N.T.

Super Fly producer Sig Shore directed a second sequel in 1990, The Return of Superfly.

The film's financing came from two black dentists and Gordon Parks Sr. who directed the blaxploitation classic, "Shaft."

The wardrobe was coordinated by Nate Adams. He still owns many of the suits, shoes, and hats.

The car Priest drives in the film us a customized 1972 Cadillac Eldorado. The car belonged to an actual hustler/pimp from Harlem named K.C. He was approached to use the car in the movie, and he agreed, but later tried to pull out of the deal, saying, "No niggers are making no movies."

The car was customized by Les Dunham Coachworks of New Jersey. Dunham modified the headlight covers, added the goddess hood ornament, lake pipes, and circular porthole windows.

The car helped start a trend of customization in the United States known as the "Pimpmobile." Aspiring drug dealers, gangsters, and pimps, both real and aspiring, modified their cars as a result of watching Super Fly.

The movie was controversial to say the least. Critics suggested that by glorifiying drug dealers the filmmakers were criticising the civil rights movement and its failure to provide a better life for blacks.

The filmmakers maintained that their desire was to show the negative and empty aspects of the drug subculture. (Priest communicates his desire to leave the business.)

Super Fly is available for streaming on Netflix.

The DVD is also available for purchase at

If you ask the average action film fan, (who will usually be male), what's the first thing he remembers about "Total Recall", the 1990 Action Sci-Fi classic that starred Arnold Schwartzenegger, he'll answer the "Consider dat a deevorce" scene, or the bulging eyes finale, he'll never answer, "The 3 boobed hooker." What's really the first thing that popped into his head? The 3 boobed hooker.

When word came that the film was being remade, the one question everyone, (OK, all of us movie and titty fans here on the Internet), had on the tip of their tongue was, "Would da people get de aihr?" (Was I able to say that with a straight face?) All right, it was "They're gonna include the whore with the three jugs in the film, right?"

Unfortunately, this years version of "Total" will be rated PG-13, which means no tits, and only one utterance of the word "fuck". (Don't ask.) Luckily the great minds of Holywood spent many manhours trying to work out how they could stick to the PG-13 rating, and still keep to the spirit of the movie. (Hookers with three tits.)

Is that TWO valleys I see?

So after many hours of conversation, arguments, and measurements, (oh, how they measured!) the big brains of movieland figured out what to do. Stick a strip of cloth across the actress' nipples. PG-13 means no nipple, it don't say nuthin' about over, under, or side-boob.

Apparently naked hips and side-cheek are also OK in PG-13 films...

Total Recall will be released on August 3rd, it stars Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale & Jessica Biel. We'll leave it to movie-goers to decide if it's an improvement over the original.
