black_mama_white_mama_poster_01 black_mama_white_mama_poster_01Black Mama, White Mama (1972): "Chicks in chains... and nothing in common but the hunger of 1,000 nights without a man!" "Chicks in chains - where they come from this is... fun!"

A 1973 Women in Prison film, "Black Mama, White Mama" includes elements of blaxploitation along with the usual women in prison ingredients. Pam Grier starred. (Of course she did, I believe it was a federal law that all Women in Prison movies had to include Pam in the cast. There are worse federal laws in effect...) It also starred Margaret Markov who also starred along side Pam in "The Arena" (1974), another Women in Prison film, that had the added twist of being set in Roman times.

Click to View Larger...The film is basically a distaff version of "The Defiant Ones" (1958) which starred Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier as convicts on the run after an escape from prison. BMWM changes the setting to a Philippine island, and added Sid Haig to the mix for added insanity.

UPDATE (2/6/12) - I found a version of the poster that was used for the foreign markets. I'm not sure what country it was used for, or the language it's written in. If anyone know, please let me know in the comments section below.
