Click to View Larger... Click to View Larger...Sony Pictures is set to distribute the Robocop remake currently in pre-production at MGM. The flick is set to be directed by Jose Padilha, and will star Jowl Kinnaman in the starring role.

Strike Entertainment partners Eric Newman and Marc Abraham are producing.

Padilha previously told Comingsoon.net what to expect from the new film: "In the first 'RoboCop' when Alex Murphy is shot, gunned down, then you see some hospitals and stuff and then you cut to him as RoboCop. My movie is between those two cuts. How do you make RoboCop? How do you slowly bring a guy to be a robot? How do you actually take humanity out of someone and how do you program a brain, so to speak, and how does that affect an individual?"

Yeah, good idea Jose, screw all the silly action scene stuff, give us an hour and half of psychology and a robotics how-to. Sure fire hit!

Here's the trailer for the original 1987 classic starring the great Peter Weller.
