Click for Larger View... Click for Larger View...Coffy was probably the first "blaxploitation" movie I ever saw. It was at my local drive-in, the Twin-Aire Drive-In on the south side of Indianapolis. I was 13 years old. This movie would plant the seed that grew inside of me as a true love for exploitation, and particularly blaxploitation movies.

Pam Grier starred as Coffy, a self styled vigilante bent on avenging the drug-related death of her younger sister. This movie established Pam as the queen of blaxploitation. She went on to star in numerous other films in this genre, "Friday Foster", "Sheba, Baby", and "Foxy Brown" to name a few.

"Coffy" was remade in 1981 with an all-white cast as "Lovely But Deadly".
